The story is very good and I'll be looking for a sequel but they could do a few things to make this a friendlier game. Not that I mind, I spend more time getting her out of trouble on Diablo 3. So, I had to limit my playing of Pillars of Eternity to when I was alone. Then my wife picked a controller up to join. Once I worked out the kinks and started understanding it, it was fun. Not to worry, I figured it out, health/endurance, had to go and make it foreign. What kind of RPG doesn't have a healing system in place? I'm all for adding unique twists to the game but you might as well take the barbarians weapons away and give them rocks to throw. I spent the first 10 hours trying to figure out how to heal my party. Some of the programming isn't much better either. As others have mentioned those loading times are terrible. You're going to level up, raise skills, control your little group of adventurers. I know the Secret of the Mana was disappointing to me and I remember loving that game. It does, sort of but then again, I probably don't just speak for myself when I say maybe those games wouldn't be as great if released now. Like the other reviewers who use words unknown to most younger games like Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, I grew up on those games and probably was expecting Pillars of Eternity to take me back to those games. This is a game that I was supposed to love and do enjoy it a great deal. Lastly the AI control could use some tweaking, when you are to lure a monster or evil character the rest of the party wants to engage right then and there.and you die.Īll in all it is a SOLID game with a LOT of playability.wife does not care for the game so much. Third, highlighting could use a LOT of work, when you come across a clue or an item more often than not you have move your character around multiple times just so you can click on it. Second, the load times are redonkulously 's almost like it is trying to match a multiplayer on dial up. First, having only ONE view point kinds sucks, I loved NeverWinter Nights with the way you could choose any view you wanted. All and all I LOVE the game with the exception of a few minor issues. I learned that the hard way and now I am stuck until I get a much higher level. Maybe I went to fast but the Yenwood Field fight is not something you should be attempting at level 5 and only one back up group. Playing it on normal is fine for a bit and then you hit a wall where the difficulty goes through the roof. This game reminds me quite a bit of Icewind Dale and Icewind Dale II with a little Diablo and Temple of Elemental Evil thrown in.
